Link to packing guide - this is the paper I was reading from the other day that had an extensive list things to pack for a safari.

Transportation Safety Administration - click for a list of items prohibited in carry on luggage. Along the sidebar is also a list of specialty items you may want to check. (the martial arts section is quite humorous - who would take a throwing star on a plane anyway?)

Baggage Requirements - click for a link to Delta's baggage size requirments for checked baggage and carry on baggage.

Info for International Travelers - click for links to Customs info and other important stuff

I have a co-worker who travels every summer with her husband overseas. She offered some tips for packing:
  1. Baby wipes are a good thing. She suggested putting a few in a plastic baggie and having several baggies on hand to use to freshen up.
  2. Take some small packets of laundry detergent powder - then you can wash your unmentionables in the sink and not have to pack so much
  3. Light weight and wrinkle resistant clothes - plan on wearing things more than once
  4. a hat or scarf of some sort - I know Katherine will fill us in more on the style of dress as we get closer to "go" time
  5. An international credit card or bank card - chances are that your regular card will not work overseas, call your lender and ask
  6. Medications - over the counter and otherwise. Medicines in foreign countries are not always up to our USFDA standards. (she suggested asking your MD for the heavy duty painkillers in case of emergency) - I will tell you that story later!
  7. Sunblock
  8. To combat jet-lag, Jennie suggested that we tell ourselves that it is really the time of our destination instead of local time from the moment we get to the airport so that we will be in the right time zone once we arrive. I hope that makes sense - if anyone can word that better feel free to edit!

I will add more info and tips as I get them!
